JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

Executive Director

National Association of Social Workers – Minnesota Chapter

The Minnesota Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), with a statewide membership of nearly 2,000, is seeking an Executive Director with demonstrated leadership and management skills. Applicants should have a substantial knowledge of and a strong commitment to the social work profession and social work values, with an awareness of the diversity of social work practice.  Applicants should also be able to engage, inspire, and mobilize the Association’s membership.  NASW is the largest membership organization of professional social workers in the world, with 120,000 members nationwide. NASW works to enhance the professional growth and development of its members, to create and maintain professional standards, and to advance sound and just social policies. The Chapter Executive Director reports to the NASW Deputy Director of Chapter Operations at the National Office and is accountable to the Minnesota Chapter Board of Directors.

Position requires:

              ·    Senior leadership experience working with professional or non-profit organizations and their volunteer Boards

              ·      Minimum of 3-5 years of executive leadership experience

  • College degree required; MSW preferred

  • Exceptional executive management skills, including the ability to provide oversight for organizational and leadership development priorities, relevant legislative efforts, membership services, staff supervision and continuing education programs

  • Demonstrated budget and financial management skills

  • Ability to manage administrative tasks with the NASW National Office

  • Solid program planning and implementation skills

  • Strong public policy experience and skills

  • Strong advocacy and legislative experience and skills

  • Community organizing experience

  • Exceptional written and oral communications skills

  • Experience working with traditional media

  • Proficiency in leveraging social media

  • Commitment to providing excellent membership support and engagement

  • Basic proficiency with Office products software, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as working in the online/”cloud” environment.

 

The Chapter office is located in St. Paul; travel required to other Minnesota communities, as needed.  Competitive salary, plus excellent benefits, including health and life insurance, and retirement.

All advertising must be related to the social work profession and is subject to the publisher's approval.  NASW MS reserves the right to reject advertisements for any reason at any time and is not liable for any alleged loss or damages if an advertisement is omitted for any reason.  NASW MS complies with the provisions of applicable federal and state laws prohibiting discrimination.  Placement of ads will be at NASW MS's discretion, although job vacancies and other advertiser's preferences will be met whenever possible.  The placement of an advertising order constitutes an acceptance of all the rates and conditions under which advertising is sold at the time.

Social Work Employment Advertisement Rate--Ads must be submitted in the required format below.  We will not accept/edit material from brochures.  There is a $50 charge per job vacancy with 100 words or less.  There is a $80 charge per job vacancy with 101-200 words and a $100 charge per job vacancy with 201-300 words.  This charges are based on one month  (30 days from posting) listings. You may submit information by email at info.naswms@socialworkers.org or by fax to 601.936.0559.  Payment by check or money order must be received PRIOR to publication, and made payable to NASW, MS.

 Required Format--- The length of job vacancy is completely up to the advertisers discretion. However, to gain maximize exposure, it is recommended that you include the following in you website advertisement.

  • Name of Company and Location

  • Title of Job Vacancy

  • Salary Range

  • Job Description

  • Qualifications

  • Contact information (website and email address can be included)

  • Method of submitting application (in person, fax, mail, or email)

  • Time Restrictions (if any)

Non- Employment Advertisement Rate All ads related to to social work but not employment opportunities should be submitted as email or camera ready copy.  There is a $25 additional charge if ad is not email or camera ready. These Ads are limited to 1/2 page, approximately 7 X 5 inches.  The cost is $300 per month (30 days from posting).  All advertisements must be paid PRIOR to publication by money order or check payable to NASW MS.  E-mail camera ready digital ads in .doc, .gif, .jpeg, or .pdf format to info.naswms@socialworkers.org .
